Mubadala Citi Open 2025

This is the only combined ATP & WTA 500 tournament in the world.
The Washington DC Stanford Association has the same six platinum box seats to all sessions that we have had since 2004 (Aisle 36, Section 3). The seats are at the end of the court and very close to the court (in the third and fourth row) and provide access to the air-conditioned restaurant. We also have eight upper-level seats (Section 6, Row N) near the top of the stadium in the corner.
The featured matches are held on the stadium court where seating is reserved, with the remainder on the outside courts where seating is open.

WDCSA Softball Sign-up
Join the Stanford Capitol Alumni Network (CAN) softball team this summer! The coed softball season typically stretches from April to July, with a tournament in August. We typically play at the West Potomac Park softball fields on Saturday mornings, although there are occasional weekday evening games. Register through this event to join the team email list and receive updates about upcoming games. No softball experience required and all are welcome!
WDCSA is subsidizing the season, so registration is free to paid-WDCSA members!

Kiki Iriafen played three seasons at Stanford before finishing her collegiate career at USC this past season. As a junior at Stanford, Iriafen was named the Pac-12 Most Improved Player of the Year and was an Honorable Mention All-American. She was drafted 4th overall by the Mystics in the 2025 Draft.
Cameron Brink had a storied career at Stanford, winning numerous accolades, including the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year as a senior, and is the Cardinal's all-time leading shot blocker. Stanford won an NCAA Championship in her first year and went to a second Final Four, before she was selected 2nd overall by the Sparks in the 2024 draft.

Fire up for the Cardinal at Cavaliers! Meet Stanford General Manager Andrew Luck '12, MA '23

During the recent WDCA event Insider's View with Andrew Luck, Stanford's first Football General Manager enthusiastically mentioned that he would be attending an alumni event in the DMV prior to the UVA game. Sure enough, WDCSA will welcome Andrew as the team prepares to face the University of Virginia Cavaliers on Saturday, September 20th. Andrew would like to meet and hear from you as alumni and residents of the region.
The setting will be both informal and electric: the world of college football is evolving each month, and no one is closer to its pulse! The UVA game will be Stanford's 4th game of the season and their 2nd game against an ACC opponent.
The VFW Post will host us with a fun dinner of barbeque and sides with a cash bar.
Cost: WDCSA paid members - $37.50, Others - $47.50

Stanford Cardinal at University of Virginia Football

You are invited to travel with Washington, DC alumni who will be attending the Stanford - UVA football game without the hassle of driving roughly 2 1/2 hours each way and parking!
WDCSA has reserved a mini bus for your convenience that will depart from and return to this Orange Line Metro station, where parking is free on Saturdays. The bus will either drop passengers off near Scott Stadium or at a parking lot from which free stadium shuttles will be available.
*Since the game start time has not yet been announced, the pickup and return times are 9:00 am and 9:00 pm, respectively. When the start time is announced, we will notify those who have reserved seats and adjust the pickup and return times.

The August book is Abundance, by Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson; Simon & Schuster (Avid Reader Press), 2025. Available in hardbound, paperback, audiobook, and Kindle editions.
The history of the twenty-first century so far is a story of unaffordability and shortage. In the last few decades, our capacity to see problems has sharpened, while our ability to solve them has diminished. The crisis of today has been building for many years, because we have not been building enough. The authors assert that our problems are not the results of yesteryear’s villains. Rather, one generation’s solutions have become the next generation’s problems. Progress requires facing up to the institutions in life that are not working as they need to be. It means, for liberals, recognizing when the government is failing. It means, for conservatives, recognizing when the government is needed. In a book exploring how we can move from a liberalism that not only protects and preserves but also builds, Klein and Thompson trace the political, economic, and cultural barriers to progress and propose a path toward a politics of abundance.
