Join us for one of our signature events of the year!
Watch a gorgeous sunset, take in historical sights, and see the monuments and memorials light up at night aboard our chartered cruise. Mix and mingle with fellow alums, connect with classmates and network with established local alumni. Enjoy a premium open bar with delicious happy hour food!
Please plan on arriving between 6:30 PM and 6:45 PM to check in. The boat will be leaving promptly at 7PM!!

Dock Directions:
Meet us on the dock at the Washington Harbor. We will board in the commercial vessel boarding zone at Georgetown Waterfront (Washington Harbor). The closest street address is 3100 K St. NW DC, 20007 & the cross streets are 31st and K St. From there, you want to continue down 31st Street by foot. At the end of 31st, you'll see the dock. Boarding is on the left, in front of the Fiola Mare Restaurant & Nick's Riverside Grill. There are many paid parking garages nearby. https://www.ridetheboomerang.com
Bring a valid ID. Wear practical shoes since you are boarding a boat with stairs. There are restrooms on-board.

Stanford DC Cardinal Teams Want You!
The Capitol Alumni Network offers Cardinal alumni the opportunity to compete against other coed alumni in football, volleyball, soccer, basketball and softball.
While we love to win, we get more out of bonding while competing. Join us, even if you feel you aren’t “good” enough but love running, jumping or swinging a bat. We are especially in great need of Stanford women to compete.
Soccer and football are typically played in the Fall. Basketball season begins in January. Softball typically begins in April. Go Card!

Regardless of your class year or how long you've been here, this is a great opportunity to see who else from your Stanford fam calls DC home. Enjoy beer, other drinks and appetizers and catch up with old friends and make new ones!

Washington DC Book Club Discussion

The October book is O Jerusalem! by Larry Collins & Dominique Lapierre; Simon & Schuster, 1988, 640 pages. Available as an audiobook or Kindle electronic book, as well as in paper and hardback editions.
This book describes the historic struggle as Arabs, Jews, and British collide in their fight for control of Jerusalem. The story begins with the UN vote to partition Palestine, which caused joy among the Jews and grief among the Arabs. It continues with the battles along the Tel Aviv-Jerusalem highway, fall of the Old City of Jerusalem, the two grueling battles of Latrun, the building of the Burma Road, and the massacres at Deir Yassin and Hadassah Hospital. All are recounted in rich, full detail, with their victims, Arab and Jew alike, accorded full sympathy by the authors.

We are reading What You Have Heard is True: A Memoir of Witness and Resistance by Carolyn Forché. This book “is a devastating, lyrical, and visionary memoir about a young woman’s brave choice to engage with horror in order to help others. Written by one of the most gifted poets of her generation, this is the story of a woman’s radical act of empathy, and her fateful encounter with an intriguing man who changes the course of her life. Carolyn Forché is twenty-seven when the mysterious stranger appears on her doorstep. The relative of a friend, he is a charming polymath with a mind as seemingly disordered as it is brilliant. She’s heard rumors from her friend about who he might be: a lone wolf, a communist, a CIA operative, a sharpshooter, a revolutionary, a small coffee farmer, but according to her, no one seemed to know for certain. He has driven from El Salvador to invite Forché to visit and learn about his country.
