WDCSA Planning Meeting
Tuesday, July 7 7-8 pm
Stanford in Washington,
2661 Connecticut Avenue NW
Washington, DC
Wouldn’t it be awesome to connect with alumni who:
- Remember when tuition was $1,575 (1967)?
- Went overseas to Tours, Beutelsbach, or Cliveden?
- Witnessed John Elway’s wildest Big Game imaginable (1982)?
- Listened to Steve Jobs (2005) or Carla Hills (1976) deliver the commencement
address? - Experienced a year in which the LSJUMB did not get in hot water?
Join us at the next monthly WDCSA Planning Meeting with suggestions for meetups,
outings, and mini-events that both stir excitement about attending Stanford
+Connects and provide opportunities for DC-area alumni to meet and gather in new, interesting ways.

2015 Citi Open
Saturday, August 1- Sunday, August 9
16th & Kennedy, NW
Washington, DC
The 2015 Citi Open is an ATP World Tour 500 tournament, making it one of the top 20 men’s tournaments in the world. We have the same six platinum box seats to all sessions as in previous years (Aisle 36, Section 3). The seats are at the end of the court and very close to the court. We also have the same four upper level seats (Section 7, Row G) as last year. All of our seats provide access to the Emirates Garden Club restaurant. The featured matches are generally held in the main court where seating is reserved with the remainder in the outside courts where seating is open. Tickets also include the women’s WTA International Level Event to be held at the same facility during this week.
The price to us of our box seats increased over 10%, and our upper level seats by 27%, so we have had to increase prices to break even. However, Andy Murray (#3 in world) and Ken Nishikori (#5 in world) have committed to play in the tournament.
Please email bill@billpegram.com or call 703-486-0952 indicating the number and type of tickets desired, the session, and parking passes desired. Stanford at the Opera
Tuesday, September 29 7 pm
Kennedy Center
Washington, DC
CARMEN
This sizzling production of Bizet’s final opera shifts the classic story to a Latin American setting smoldering with sensuality and danger, using the original version of the score. The music pulses with erotic power – from Carmen’s rousing “Habanera” aria and uninhibited dancing in a smokey tavern to the famous “Toreador Song” – all culminating in a spectacular finale at a bullfight.
This one is a winner and … we’ll be there with a before opera “meet-up.
See our August newsletter or Facebook page mid-July for information on the cost. For more information, contact bettybyrne@stanfordalumni.org or 202.483.4048.
