MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
Jill Pepper, BA’93, has put her economics and public policy degrees as well as her MBA (MIT Sloan ’97) to good use by running a DC-based non-profit organization for the last eight years. Jill’s job at TEAM Coalition is to prevent drunk driving and promote responsible behavior to sports fans and concert-goers nationwide. She attends the World Series, the Super Bowl, the NBA Finals, MLS Cup and the NCAA College World Series and Final Four FOR HER JOB!
She knows how lucky she is to have a job that a true sports fan can appreciate and at the same time communicate an important message. Jill is active in the WDCSA community in several ways. She, along with Chris Shinkman, represents WDCSA in CAN (Capital Alumni Network), ensuring that we are in good standing for both our co-ed softball and flag football teams in the CAN leagues. Jill is a player/

EVENT SPOTLIGHT:
SUMMER EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES MAIN FOCUS OF
PARENTS’ INITIATIVE MEETING
On April 11th, approximately 25 parents attended the WDCSA Stanford Parents’ Initiative held at the home of Melissa Clark P’12. The primary topic of conversation was career and internship opportunities for Stanford students. Two parents, Kathie Krumm ’83 and John Michopoulos, provided information about future internship and temporary or post-graduate employment opportunities at the World Bank and the Office of Naval Research and Naval Research Laboratories.
World Bank jobs are available only to graduating seniors or graduate students, and this year’s deadline has passed. The Naval Research summer internships for undergraduates include (among others) sub-professional and technical positions in occupations of engineering, physical science and math, and computer operations. For a description of all the jobs available through ONR and NRL, visit http://www.onr.navy.mil/en/
Education-Outreach.aspx. Contact Kathie (homevkgv@yahoo.com) or John (michopoulos@gmail.com) for more information about future opportunities.
Stanford students can visit the the Stanford Career Development Center (CDC) website and join the Cardinal Careers database, which maintains an events calendar (for career fairs, etc.), posts information about internships and job opportunities, and sends e-newsletters out to students. WDCSA members willing to talk to students informally about employment opportunities at his or her organization or career interests in his or her field, or offer resume advice for applicants interested in applying for a position, should contact Kristin Conner (kconner@stanford.edu) at the CDC. She will share this contact information on a case-by-case basis with interested Stanford students in the Cardinal Career database.
Any WDCSA member (parent or not) who might know of an internship or employment opportunity should visit http://cdc.stanford.edu/employers/ and create an account, which will then let you post directly to the site.
