Behind
the Scenes of the National Zoo’s Asia Trail
Saturday, August 5 8:00-10:00am
The Panda Café at the National Zoo
3001 Connecticut Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20008
The Washington DC Stanford Association and the University of Pennsylvania
Washington DC Alumni Club invite you learn about the National Zoo’s Asia Trail
with alumnus Kara Blond (Penn BA ’97, Stanford MA ’02), Exhibit Developer
for the Asia Trail. When it opens to the public on September 20, the Asia
Trail will be home to several Asian animals now living at the Zoo, including
sloth bears, fishing cats, red pandas, and of course the giant pandas!
The program will consist of a continental breakfast and interactive presentation
atop the Zoo’s Panda Café, which overlooks the yard where panda cub
Tai Shan often plays in the mornings and the soon-to-open Asia Trail. Kara
will talk about the development of the Asia Trail exhibit and answer questions.
Afterwards, families are encouraged to explore the Zoo on their own –
we will distribute lists of special demonstrations, feedings, and events taking
place later in the day. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to learn about
the Asia Trail before it opens to the public!
