Stanford Softball Team

ATTENTION: SOFTBALL PLAYERS!
Plans are underway for Stanford to put a softball team on the field
here in Washington. The Capital Alumni Network (CAN), the umbrella
organization for college and university alumni clubs and chapters
here in the Washington
area, runs a popular co-ed softball league with 45 teams participating.
Games are played on weekdays at 6:30pm on the mall/ellipse and the
season is from April 15 to August 15.

This announcement is a request for preliminary indications of interest
among the WDCSA members. The fee for playing is $20-25 (for equipment
purchase and league fees) and those who sign up for the team will be expected
to make a commitment to play in as many games as their schedule will allow.
If you think you’d be interested in joining the team, please call
Chris Shinkman (301-229-4427) or email (c.shinkman@verizon.net). Go Cardinal!"

Volunteers: Admissions Office

The Stanford Office of Undergraduate Admissions
is looking for alumni and parent volunteers to help out with local
events, including information
sessions for high school students, and welcome/sendoff events
for new admits. Spread your excitement about Stanford, share your own
experiences, and get to know other local alums… the time commitment
is only a few hours a year (and always optional). We especially
need help from recent grads and current/recent parents, but
all are welcome!!
If you’re interested or want to learn more, please contact Karen
Heywood McKinley (’97), karenhey@stanfordalumni.org,
or 301-215-9870.
