Friends of the Stanford Daily
The Friends of The Stanford Daily is hosting an East Coast gathering of
former Daily staff members. Cost is $20 per person, which includes a catered meal from Rocklands
Barbeque and Grilling Co. and an open bar. Cocktails at 6:30 p.m., dinner at 7:30 p.m. The gathering
takes place at 1501 Crystal Dr. in Arlington. More details are available on the Friends of The

Stanford v. Notre Dame Football
Stanford (1-2) travels to South Bend to take on #9 ranked Notre Dame (4-0) and former Stanford
coach, Tyrone Willingham. Our friends from the Stanford Daily reunion will also be at this
event. Stanford fans are invited to view the game at the Grand Slam Sports Bar at the
Grand Hyatt (1000 H Street NW). The game is also telecast locally on NBC, Channel 4 in
Washington.

Performance of "The Amen Corner" at H Street Theater
The Modern Drama Discussion Group (www.footlightsdc.org) invites you to attend a performance of
"The Amen Corner" 2 p.m. at the H Street Theater, 1365 H St., NE (call 301-897-9314 if you

Italian cuisine. Delectable appetizers and desserts from the kitchen of Chef Roberto Catanuso
will be served. (I understand that "matti" is Italian for "crazy").

accessible.
Metro: The closest Metro is Woodley Park/Zoo on the Red Line. Catch the 98 U Street/Woodley Park
Metro Loop bus. RideGuide suggests the 42 Mt. Pleasant bus from Farragut West Metro station
for those near the Orange Line. For those driving, the Colonial Parking deck is located across
the street for $8. On-street parking is improbable, although Adams-Morgan is more accessible on a

Free Membership Year
For the next few weeks, current WDCSA members can extend their membership for a full year for free to get newsletters through December 2003. Are you a current member? – unless you got this newsletter from somebody else, you are a current member. If you aren’t a current member, we hope you will join – the cost is $10 for email members and $15 for mail members.
There are two ways to extend your membership:
1) The preferred way is online. Go to www.stanfordalumni.org/stanfordclub/dc/renew or click on the link
at the top of this page You will need to register on the Stanford Alumni Association site unless you have already done so. Select the free membership plan for email only or mail current members. Leave the credit card information blank and click the “Process Payment” button
or
2) Respond to the annual fall membership mailer which will arrive in a few weeks. Make corrections to the contact information shown and mark “Current Member” on the form when you return it.
Members who have already paid for 2003 should follow these same procedures. Next year we will use your previous payment for 2003 to extend your membership through 2004. Promise!
